We are part of the Episcopal Church and members of the worldwide Anglican Communion, which is the third largest Christian group in the world. More importantly however, we center our lives on Jesus Christ and follow him into a loving, liberating and life-giving relationship with God, each other, and creation. Our beliefs are expressed most clearly through our worship, which is rooted in Scripture and the ancient liturgical tradition of the Book of Common Prayer. The Nicene and Apostle’s creeds are our statements of faith as outlined in our Catechism and in the promises we make at baptism, which we renew regularly in our Baptismal Covenant. We live out our baptismal promises to follow Jesus through spiritual practices that Christians have utilized through the centuries as described in the “Way of Love: Practices for a Jesus Centered Life.” These practices include:
- TURN: Pause, listen and choose to follow Jesus
- LEARN: Reflect on Scripture each day, especially on Jesus’ life and teachings
- PRAY: Dwell intentionally with God daily in prayer
- WORSHIP: Gather in community weekly to thank, praise, and dwell with God
- BLESS: Share your faith and unselfishly give and serve
- GO: Cross boundaries, listen deeply and live like Jesus
- REST: Receive the gift of God’s grace, peace, and restoration
Members are encouraged to create and follow their own unique way to adapt these practices in their daily lives to support and deepen their faith and share God’s love to the world.
