From the greeters and ushers who welcome parishioners and guests every Sunday to the Altar Guild whose behind-the-scenes work prepares the altar for each service, it takes dozens of focused and devoted volunteers to make Sunday mornings a special time at St. Dunstan’s. If you would like to volunteer for one of the following Worship Ministries, please contact the church office.

Altar Guild

This dedicated group prepares the altar for each worship service. The Altar Guild serves in teams of three to four people covering one week a month, Friday to Thursday. Every few months, they switch out teams and schedule. Twice-a-year meetings and an annual luncheon help maintain a sense of community for the Guild. For more information, please visit the Altar Guild website page.

Acolytes

Acolytes assist at Sunday morning services, funerals, weddings, and special services such as those on Epiphany, Holy Week, and Christmas. Serving as an acolyte provides an opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of the liturgical traditions of the church while acting as servants, ministers and leaders. Acolyte ages range from upper elementary grades through high school. If your child is interested in being an acolyte, please speak with one of the priests or call the church office.

Flower Guild

The Flower Guild is responsible for the stunning arrangements you see every week. The Flower Guild works in teams of two, each covering one week a month. On Friday morning, a team heads over to the florist to buy flowers and then arranges them at the church into two large arrangements for the sanctuary. The total time commitment is about three hours per month. The Flower Guild is always looking for new team members. No experience in floral arranging is necessary, you will be assigned with an experienced team member. With enough teams, the commitment is only one Friday a month. Read more…

Eucharistic Ministers

The role of a Lector is to assist in the liturgy by reading either the Lessons or the Prayers of the People. Chalice Bearers administer the chalice at the Eucharist. Lectors and Chalice Bearers must be baptized members of the parish. Training is required. If you wish to serve in this ministry, please contact the church office.

Music

St. Dunstan’s Music Ministry is blessed to have so many talented volunteers contributing to the Parish Choir, children’s Victory Choir, Handbell Ringers, as well as a number of instrumental and vocal soloists. To learn more about this program, please visit our website’s music section.

Hospitality Ministry

We currently have 20+ adults and youth who greet people and who usher once a month on a regular basis along with several people who are available as substitutes. In addition to the regular worship services, they also usher at various holiday services throughout the year, such as Easter and Christmas. Ushers are responsible for distributing bulletins, raising or lowering the flag, collecting the offertory, assisting with communion, providing assistance to people in the congregation when needed, and tidying up the church after their respective services.
