We're the church across the street from Patrick Henry High.
Why add another activity to your busy schedule? Whether you are a parent or a middle/high schooler reading this page, you are probably overburdened with commitments. The demands of families, extended families, work, school, homework, life, home, sports, band, activities, and clubs are non-stop and sometimes overwhelming. So why in the world would you even consider adding another commitment to your life, when many of us don't even have the time to sit down together for one family meal a week?
Because life is much more than an endless list of commitments.
"Youth Group is one of those few places where you don't have to worry about looking stupid if you say or do the wrong thing. It is where people will accept you for being who you are. Not just in word, but in deed. You can ask questions that you have always wondered about without feeling like others will look down at you, and, at the same time, you meet great people and have a whole lot of fun." ~ St. Dunstan's Youth Group Member
As middle/high schoolers grow through adolescence into young adulthood, brains, emotions, and thought processes are maturing, as are relationships with parents, families, and friends. It is also a time where youth are faced with life changing decisions. Youth Group doesn't necessarily prevent anyone from making poor choices, but it does provide a strong faith foundation and community of peers who walk with one another and cheer each other on during both the good and difficult times of life.
When we meet and who attends.
All students from grades 6 through 12 are invited to participate in St. Dunstan's Youth Group. We welcome all, from those who have attended church to those who have never had any religious experience. So whether you believe in God or are just curious about Him, check us out at one of the following youth activities:
- Sunday mornings from 9 to 9:55 a.m. The youth meet and talk about their week's highs and lows, go over Biblical readings for that day, and applying the Bible to modern everyday life by studying present-day music. Meets from September to mid-June.
- Sunday evenings from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Activities include announcements, discussion-based lessons, games, ice breakers, Improv, food, and fellowship. The Sunday evening Youth Group meets September - mid-June. Througout the summer, our youth program hosts a variety of activities and events. Please contact the church office for more information about our summer schedule.
What we do.
- Mission trips, Rock-N-Water, amusement parks, retreats, and more!
- After-School Tutoring. Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 2:15 to 4:00 p.m. (September - June). All are invited to our after-school tutoring program. We have both high school and middle school students who drop in for tutoring in such subject areas as math, science, Spanish, French, and English. Some students choose to skip the tutoring and use this time as a Study Hall. Snacks provided. Please click here for complete After-School Tutoring Program details.
If you have any questions about St. Dunstan's Youth Group, or are a little nervous about attending your first youth event, please contact the church office. We look forward to getting to know you!
