All are invited to our after-school tutoring program, which is available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We have both high school and middle school students who drop in for tutoring in such subject areas as Math, Science, Spanish, French, and English. Some students choose to skip the tutoring and use this time as a Study Hall. Snacks provided. If you have any questions about the program, please contact the church office.
Where we meet:
Tutoring sessions are held in the St. Dunstan's Youth Building, which is in the back of our campus, next to the main parking lot.
When we meet:
Tutoring is available every Tuesday and Wednesday from 2:30 - 4:00 p.m. (September - June). Since we observe Patrick Henry High School's schedule and calendar, our tutoring program is closed during PHHS holidays, breaks, minimum days, and summer vacation.
What to expect:
Tutoring at St. D's is very informal; you don't have to register for the program; you can come every Tuesday and Wednesday, or only as much as you feel is helpful. When you walk in, we usually have snacks and drinks prepared, along with textbooks provided by the school (so don't worry if you don't have a textbook with you). We're here to help you, so simply approach one of the adults wearing a St. Dunstan's name tag, tell us which subject you need help with, and we will set you up with an available tutor in that subject. Students are also welcome to utilize the tutoring program as a place to do homework, or wait for your ride in the comfort of an air conditioned building.
Attention St. Dunstan's Volunteers - Want to help out?
Since tutoring is a program offered by the church free of charge, we are always in need of snack and drink donations from September - June. If you would like to donate snacks or drinks to the program, you can bring them by the church office Monday - Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or on Fridays, 8:00 a.m. - Noon. Otherwise, you can drop them off during our tutoring hours (Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 2:30 - 4:00 p.m.) in the Youth Building.
We are also in need of additional and on-call tutors, particularly in Math and Science. If you have a couple hours a week that you'd be willing to donate to a good (and rewarding!) cause, please contact the church office.
