For more information about these or any of the outreach programs at St. Dunstan's, call the Parish office at 619-460-6442.
RUMMAGE SALE
Almost every year St. Dunstan’s holds a 2-day rummage sale to benefit
the many community outreach programs supported by the church in our
community. This intense ministry activity requires volunteers to serve
in the following areas: by donations, promotion, transportation for
some items, sorting, pricing, serving refreshments, set-up crew,
clean-up crew, security, cashiers, baggers, persons to run the
refreshment stand, etc. $10,000-$12,000 is typically earned, with the
majority of the proceeds going to our Outreach programs. This is also
an excellent opportunity to meet your fellow parishioners.
CASSEROLE MINISTRY
Casseroles are made and delivered to members of the parish and their
families facing a family emergency. (Contact the Director of Lay
Ministries.)
EPISCOPAL COMMUNITY SERVICES (ECS) Food Pantry
A food ingathering is held the first Sunday of each month. The grocery
items are taken to the ECS food pantry for distribution to low income
families who may otherwise go hungry in order to pay rent and/or
utility bills. Brown paper bags are available for your donation of
staple goods. Money is also greatly appreciated.
EPISCOPAL COMMUNITY SERVICES (ECS) Julian’s Anchorage
St. Dunstan’s helps to fill special needs of the women and children living in this safe haven for battered women.
EYE MINISTRY
Eyeglasses are collected and delivered to the Lion’s Club.
INTERFAITH SHELTER NETWORK (INS) Rotational Shelter
Once a year, St. Dunstan’s provides shelter, food and transportation,
during a two week period, for men, women and families attempting to get
back on their feet. It is part of the faith community’s network to
assist the less fortunate in our community.
INTERFAITH SHELTER NETWORK (ISN) El Nido
St. Dunstan’s furnishes one of the apartments in this complex and helps
to meet special needs of the battered women and children living in this
safe haven.
INTERNATIONAL ASSISTANCE
Monetary donations are made to Episcopal Relief and Development, United
Thank Offering, Bread for the World and the Alliance for African
Assistance.
ANNUAL GRANT PROGRAM
In addition to the programs listed above, funds from St. Dunstan’s
Outreach Endowment Fund are used to support a variety of local,
national and international programs and projects.
TEEN SHELTER
The Metro Teen Shelter provides a safe haven for young teens on the
streets. St. Dunstan’s provides the meals for these teens on the first
and third Tuesday of each month. In addition, funds are provided to
meet some of the special needs of the young residents. Drivers are
needed for delivery of the Tuesday meals. Phone the Director of Lay
Ministries for details.
FAMILY OUTREACH
Thanksgiving & Christmas Food is provided to families for the
Thanksgiving holidays. Foods and gifts are provided to families in need
for the Christmas holiday. In addition, the parish supports an annual
Angel Tree. A name is selected from the tree and an appropriate gift is
purchased, wrapped and placed under the tree. In recent times gifts
have been given to the Metro Teen Shelter and families at Green
Elementary School.
